I’m very pleased to announce that I’m off on tour with my new show, Hard Knocks, from tomorrow!
Hard Knocks is a show of spoken word and comedy about community and connection. I wrote it to go alongside the release of The Door-to-Door Poet. Having since (just about) got to grips with being a new dad, I’m now looking forward to taking it out to some of the furthest-flung places I can reach on public transport.
I tested Hard Knocks a few times around the North East last year and it was loads of fun. There’s some poems from The Door-to-Door Poetry project in there, as well as some other ones from a 10 year career spent making a nuisance out of myself with verse. Expect stories of mistaken identity, an ode to a rebellious snail, and a rumination on a time travelling public official. I like to think it lifts the lid on some of the most funny and challenging moments of a somewhat unconventional career path.
